Moday Motivation for the Soul

Hey Soul Mommas,

I look forward to season changes so much I change my hair regimen,  my skin regimen,  my personal projects, my nail colors, my wardrobe and even my choice of foods. I love driving into a new part of the year. I look to season changes as fresh starts, to accomplish something special by the end of it.

This past February,  I gave birth to my first child and I am more determined

than ever to be at my goal weight before Spring ends. I am also ready as ever to sculpt, tone and revive my entire body to be even healthier than it ever has been! My six weeks of postpartum recovery is now complete and I plan to go back go to a very active routine.

This Spring, I am looking to try new ways to get active. I want to encourage my soul mommas to do the same! I am already very health and fitness oriented however some exercises can be repetitive causing a little boredom and some lost of enthusiasm.

Here are some simple but very effective tips that I am going to try to make my fitness regimen a little more exciting! I am recommending this to my soul mommas, new mommas, and all the other mommas because change is absolutely wonderful and health is important.

Tip one: Get a partner! Simple. If you find someone as motivated as you are to be fit, you wont let them fail and they wont allow you to fail at your goals. Make goals together, compete with one another and stay on each other constantly. If you have a significant other I strongly suggest getting them involved as this can be a great aspect of a healthy relationship.

Tip two: Join a local bootcamp. Check out a bootcamp with your friends. This is a great way to get a full body work out once or twice a week. Bootcamps are also a great way to meet individuals who are as serious as you are.

Tip three: Find new place to get your workout on. If you enjoy walking, running or jogging finding a new place to run gives you a change of scenery. Check out a new park in your area and just to be safe send a message to your good friends and let them know you are in a place different from your regular workout spot.

Tip four: Update your workout playlist. Get grooving to some new tunes that will further engage you in your workout routine. New music alone keeps the everyday routine feeling fresh.

Tip five: Simply do something different! If you do yoga all the time try palates. If you run all the time try jumping rope for cardio. There is something different to replace what you are already doing that will give you the maximum results you are looking for.

Tip six: New workout gear! When you look good you feel good! Go to your local sports store and grab a couple of tanks, pairs of tights, caps, socks and whatever else makes you feel like an athlete! New shoes helps a lot!

Soul Mommas I hope in some way these tips will help get you moving. Staying motivated is important for us to keep going. As I have stated these are tips that I am going to use and if you chose to do so as well, please feel free to contact me and let me know how these tips worked for you! Hump Day the Soul Way

Hey Soul Mommas,

Its hump day again! This week I’m going to share with you a do it yourself all natural face mask that will deep clean, moisturize and give you a midweek glow! This mask is very simple to make using  ingredients you may not have to leave your home for!

Here is what you’ll need to create an awesome all natural face mask:

“The Green Clean”

I tbs of honey

I large ripe avocado

I tbs of virgin olive oil

2 tbs of lemon juice

I egg white

Mash up your avocado into a small bowl and add the lemon juice to soften. Next add all of the other ingredients mixing and mashing as you go.

To use: cleanse face using your normal routine.. apply this mask evenly on your skin. Next, let the mask rest 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse your face thoroughly so that all of the mask is completely rinsed away.

This mask should leave you with a moisturized, smooth face! You will have a light fluffy feel for the last couple of days in your week.

Other tips to funk this up for ya!

Tip:Got some cucumber or kiwi lying around? Cut a couple of slices and place them on your closed eyelids. This will help take away those dark circles around the eyes.

Tip:Now this mask consist of all edible ingredients but please don’t eat it! You can however place a little on the lips and rinse to relieve dry lips.

Tip: Get this mask going right before bed. When you wake up for work you can do a very simple wash and moisturizer before applying your primer and make up.

Tip:You can follow this mask by rubbing a little apple cider vinegar over the skin with cotton balls. The vinegar acts as a natural skin toner.

Hey Soul Mommas,

As you know I promised to give you reviews and details on the products that go unnoticed, not as popular and new that are not getting reviews! This product is sitting on the shelves of Target and I have not seen reviews on it YET! I’m pretty sure they will pop up after this one! lol!

I picked this up because it was sitting in the section with all the well known brands and it caught my eye with its bright green bottle! I began reading everything it had to offer and the price and took off to the checkout counter!

I am reviewing MopTop Gentle Shampoo and giving you the rundown on every aspect of this product I can think of!

I purchased MopTop for $10.99 for a 8oz bottle at Target!

budget lovely 0$ to 7$

budget friendly 8$ to 12$ (MopTop is HERE)

budget enemy 12$ and above!

MopTop is budget friendly!

Now this product has on the front of the bottle what every naturalista is looking for! It shows that this is a very gentle shampoo infused with sea botanicals, aloe and honey! It also has that it works for oily, normal, dry, damaged, and color treated hair! At the bottom it shows that this product is for all textures including thin, straight, wavy loose curls, curly and kinky coily hair! The very best and most imperative feature on this pretty bottle is that this product is dye free, silicone free, paraben free, soy free and phthalate free.

The MopTop Experience

The scent is a very fresh scent that smells so sweet I wished it were edible! It is light and airy and lingered in my hair following my wash. The scent was amazing to say the least.

For a no sulfate shampoo, the lather on this shampoo is very heavy. I absolutely love a great lather. I did not feel as though my hair was being stripped but I felt the very gentle cleansing that is in the name.

When I was ready to rinse, I was able to clean rinse this product in a matter of seconds from each section. It did not feel like it was still in my hair. I was also having a terrible itch and this shampoo eased that tremendously! The clean is very evident after the rinse. My hair felt lighter and my curls were poppin’!

While washing, I wash my hair in 6 sections so I was able to get a great clean throughout my scalp. While massaging my ends I really felt this shampoo was gentle here as well.

Soul Mommas I highly recommend MopTop as this product does what it says. At least it did for me! This product receives a 9.5 of 10 on the Soul Scale!

Soul Mommas if you have any questions regarding my experience please feel free to ask! Or if you have your own experience with MopTop please share!

Midweek Scrubs for the Soul

Hey Soul Mommas,

It is Wednesday and each hump day I want to have a special treat ready for you to get you through the week! I myself deal with exzema on a day to day basis right behind my knees and in the creases of my arms and it is very bothersome during Winter. Winter is the most harsh on my skin and since it’s warming up it is time to revive my color and moisture. My all time favorite way to transition into the warmer months are all natural body scrubs. Body scrubs are a great way to exfoliate the skin and cleanse the body a little beyond a regular body wash bath.

I want to share with you two all natural body scrubs that you can make at home and tips on deep conditioning your body. I personally named these scrubs by the aroma you get from them and these recipes are my own but you can change the ingredients to your liking. These recipes are very simple and items to purchase are very budget friendly!

Island Citrus Scrub

1 tablespoon of lemon zest

1 cup sea salt

1 cup of coconut oil

1 teaspoon of grapefruit essential oil

Mix these together in no order at all and you have a fruity scrub perfect for your morning shower!

1/2 cup of coconut oil

1/2 cup brown sugar *wink*

1 teaspoon of honey

1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of used coffee grounds

Mix these ingredients in no order at all and enjoy this sweet sugary scrub in the evening after a long busy day! If you are yeast infection prone, use sea salt or epsom salt.

Tips for using your DIY scrubs:

Apply your scrubs to damp skin when cleansing.

Use your scrubs within 12 days to prevent using moldy or bacteria infested scrub.

When exfoliating use a loofah to help the scrub remove dead skin and toxins.

Use circular motions for maximum exfoliating.

Rinse thoroughly after using your scrubs.

Feel free to try different oils! Coconut oil is just my “run to” for the skin.

Soul mommas, I hope these recipes help you get over that hump! Also, if you know any other great recipes to get the skin glowing please let me know!
